Label TextIn Winter Walk, Higgins depicted fragments of the architecture he viewed as he surveyed the village of Taos. He used a modernist style to portray the buildings that he encountered over time. The oval shape of his images gives the idea of a circular, not linear path. He included mundane buildings such as a gas station. He made a focal point with the sky-reaching steeple of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. The iconic shape of Taos Pueblo, home to the Taos Indian people, is apparent, even with Higgins’ abstraction.
