DescriptionVignette of Native American scalping white man on the front cover. Plates and maps numberes 1-41.Label TextSchoolcraft’s book noted the weaving skills of the Navajo. His information came from Army officers stationed at Fort Defiance, in present-day Arizona. The text and illustrations provided an early record of the weaving process. Both Pueblo and Navajo peoples used an upright loom for making their blankets.
