Description4 colorsLabel TextTo create a wood block print, the artist first planned the colors. Baumann carved one block of wood for each color. For this edition of Winter Corral, he used four colors, orange, yellow, green, and black. For the orange, he cut away from the surface of the block the areas where he did not want orange. That left the sky, the pony, some fence posts, two goats, a tree root, a rock, some foliage highlights, and the dotted border. Baumann carved blocks for the other colors. He printed each of the four colors on a single sheet of paper. He repeated the printing to make an edition.
