Label Text"I also took a sketch of his son, Calchillum. He has a medicine cap on, to which he attached great importance. It was made of human hair, taken from the heads of persons killed in battle, and ornamented with feathers. This, he told me, he only wore on great occasions, such as his present visit tot he Clal-lums. On my expressing a wish to purchase it, he told me that he valued it too highly to part with it; nor would he allow me to take it to my tent to finish this sketch without himself accompanying it. for fear it might be deprived of some of its magical properties."
