Label TextIn Indian Boyhood, Eastman gave a memoir of his childhood. He grew up primarily in Canada, living according to traditional ways of the Santee Sioux. He later moved back to the United States and took on assimilated ways of living. Eastman wrote the book to preserve his memories and to share them with others. He wrote about an Indian boy’s training, games, family traditions, and many other topics. Eastman dedicated the book to his son, Ohiyesa II, who was about four years old when the book came out. The book appealed to children and to adults.
