DescriptionIncludes an Illustrated letter inscribed on the first free endpaper, to Charles Furlong (1922)Label TextRussell loved storytelling and wrote a collection of tales as told by a fictional character, Rawhide Rollins. This book is open to an illustration in a chapter, “The Story of the Cowpuncher.” Russell illustrated it with the image of “A Center-Fire Fashion Leader.” In the narrative, Rollins (Russell) lightly mocks the “fashion leader” found in all camps. “His hat was the best.” “His boots were made to order, with long heels.” “He rode a center fire, fully stamped saddle.” (A centerfire saddle has a cinch in the center of the saddle. Fully stamped means it has leather tooling engraved all over the saddle.)
