Johnnie Diacon

Muscogee (Creek), born 1963
BiographyJohnnie Diacon works in several media and focuses on depictions of Muscogee people. He was educated at Bacone College in Muskogee, Oklahoma, where he studied the traditional, flat style of Indian painting under master artist Ruthe Blalock Jones. He also studied the contemporary style of Indian art at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where his teachers included Linda Lomahaftewa. His work can be found in the permanent collections of the Philbrook Museum in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the Institute of American Indian Art, Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Bacone College, among others. He will have a one-person exhibition at the Museum Broken Arrow in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, in October of 2026. He currently lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
