Label TextElmer Turner and Ila McAfee first visited Taos on their honeymoon. Both were from Colorado, but met in Chicago where they studied art. Two years after their wedding, they moved to Taos and built a home and studio. Turner often used colors to plan his works. The Road into the Canyon features rich golden yellows, greens, and blues. The artist emphasized the color by abstracting the shapes of trees, plants, and the road.
