Label TextBorn in San Antonio, Texas, Julian Onderdonk showed an early talent for art. He learned the fundamentals under his father Robert Jenkins Onderdonk. Desiring more training, he went to New York and studied under the influential American painter William Merritt Chase. He returned to his home state and transformed Texas landscape painting.
