DescriptionHorizontal oil painting depicts a bouquet of flowers in a green vase sitting on a green ledge in front of a window looking outside.Label TextSharp painted this work “from my studio window.” The setting is his home in Pasadena, California. Sharp had homes in Taos, New Mexico, and Crow Agency, Montana, which played important roles in his artistic environment. Less well known is his Pasadena home. He bought a house in California for several reasons. It provided a warmer climate in winter. It was also near extended family and good medical care. His wife Louise kept vibrant flower gardens that supplied blossoms for many of his floral still life paintings. In this work, Sharp suggested an interplay between outdoor nature and interior décor.
