Label TextEllis settled in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and became one of the members of Los Cincos Pintores. For inspiration for his landscape images, he traveled to other sites in the West such as Navajo country. He became known as an “impressionist” because he painted with a concern for light and he richly applied paint.
