DescriptionNearly square oil painting of small structures and low adobe walls in a landscape backed by blue mountains and a towering cloud formation.Label TextThe village of Galisteo, New Mexico, is the site where Ellis found buildings he repurposed for his ranch home. He acquired an old adobe hacienda, or main dwelling from a large estate. Ellis also found abandoned ruins of a church. He preserved the adobe bricks and architectural features such as the vigas (beams). On his property he combined the structures to make the home he called La Hacienda de San Sebastian. He took the romance of the old buildings and made his ideal setting.
