Label TextIn the Landscape Log Kane described this sketch as "A Buffalo robe with the war adventures of Sa-co - the Sinew Piece. A Blood Indian." In Pictorial Sketches Kane described this painting as "A Buffalo robe with the war exploits of 'Saco the sinew piece,' one of the blood Indian tribe, painted on it. This is the only way the Indians have of transmitting histories of their achievements, and so well is this sort of Hieroglyphic understood that one of them will read it off without the least hesitation."
