Label TextOn June 1, 1848 Kane met a large war party of Blackfoot, Blood, Sur-cees, Gros Ventres and Pay-gans. He painted a group portrait of six chiefs from this party including "Wah-nis-stow, 'The White Buffalo,' principal chief of the Sur-cee tribe." This sketch, served as a preparatory drawing for the group portrait.
