Label Text“Summer and winter the Sioux woman performed the heavy work of the camp.” Curtis recognized “what was seemingly drudgery was for her a part of the pleasure of life.” Curtis did much of his fieldwork during the summer, but he made sure to document winter life as well. Volume Three included the Teton Sioux, Yanktonai, and Assiniboin.
