Label TextJ.W. Hutson judges rodeo events. He competed as a bronc rider and calf roper. Hutson has also been a teacher, educator, and actor. He said, “When I got to be 15 years old I would go to rodeos. They had a Black rodeo at Circle L5 ranch. . . . I rode bareback horses for about 8 years. Then I went to college. . . . I ran into some calf ropers and they invited me to come roping and I started roping ever since. I was just enjoying life.”
