Label TextClarence LeBlanc was the IPRA World Steer Wrestling Champion in 1983 and 1990. He also is part of a rodeo family. He and his brother Kenneth grew up roping and breaking horses. Clarence’s brother Kenneth said, “(Clarence) made the IPRA finals in the steer wrestling and that’s all he wanted to do was rodeo.” The origin of steer wrestling is often traced to a Black cowboy. Bill Pickett (1870-1932) demonstrated his method of subduing steers in Wild West shows. He called it bulldogging.
