Label TextMcKenney lead the office of Indian Trade. He had that position from 1816 to 1822. He then was head of Indian Affairs until 1830. He wrote a history of Indian tribes. It actually was a series of biographies. Indian Gallery portraits provided the imagery. Hall, a lawyer, helped with the writing. The authors struggled with printing problems. They produced a beautiful publication. It was in three volumes. It had 120 illustrations. It came out between 1836 and 1844. Lewis sketched Meta-Koosega at Fond du Lac. This Indian was a warrior. He was also a medicine worker.
