Label TextThis portrait came with a brief biography of the cowboy, who was born near Gainesville, Texas. Price was both cowboy and performer. At age eleven, he was “wrangling horses for the Circle J.S. Outfit at fifteen dollars per month. Became so proficient as a ‘bronc-twister’ that, at thirteen, he was riding with the Circle C. Wild West Show. For two seasons he rode ‘buckers’ for wild west shows. . . . In 1914, when the French were buying ‘war horses” in Fort Worth, Price was ‘riding inspection’ . . . . During the War Uncle Sam kept him busy breaking saddle mounts.” After the war, Price continued taming horses for various owners.
