Label TextRemington worked closely with the foundries that cast his sculptures into bronze. He wanted the best work possible. The artist corresponded with Riccardo Bertelli, the owner of Roman Bronze Works in Brooklyn, New York. Bertelli and the workers at his foundry cast most of Remington’s bronzes, using the lost wax method. (Remington consistently misspelled Bertelli’s name.) The artist had invited Bertelli to visit him at his summer residence. Remington’s impulsive trip to Newfoundland postponed Bertelli’s visit. Remington expressed his eagerness to see the work done for his sculpture Polo.
