BiographyOkeh Records was founded in 1918 by Otto K. E. Heinemann in New York City. The company produced records similar to other companies at the time, vaudville skits, popular tune, dance number. They also produced records for immigrant populations by producing records in languages like Czech, German, and Yiddish. Around 1926 Columbia Records purchased the record label and kept it active as a Jazz label until the 1960s. In the 1990s Sony Music Entertainment reactivate the label after purchasing it. Today, the label still produces Jazz albums.
